Jesus spelled out in sign language. There are over 300 million Deaf people in the world. If they were all put together they would form the fourth largest unreached (or unevangelized) people group in the world. Only 2% claim to be Christians. We need your help to reach these people with the gospel!

Raymond and Kathryn Montoya - Missionaries to the DeafGod has called us to reach the deaf worldwide by; equipping churches for deaf ministries, providing tools to reach the lost deaf, and sponsoring deaf ministries and orphans. Just like other missions, the deaf have their own language (American Sign Language) and culture, but many deaf people live in our neighborhoods. People don’t have to move to a third world country to reach one of the largest unreached people groups in the world.

CB Deaf Ministry helps you learn sign language by providing the tools you need.  Using our Worship Workshops and Workshop Specials, learning sign language becomes fun and easy.  We also provide prayer and ministry support. Please contact us if you would like us to visit your church of christian fellowship.

Latest News and Updates: Haiti Deaf Community

Hello my dear friends and family,

As we plunge into the New Year, Ray and I are following God's leading in the work He has called us to for the deaf. It seems that we make our plans, but as the Lord will do, He changes them. As God unfolds His will in our lives it is our desire to have you praying for us and with us.

As you are already aware, God has called us to partner with and start schools for the deaf in countries all over the world. Most of our work is in Africa, but we also have partners in Cambodia, Pakistan, Philippines and now Haiti.

This year we have been making plans to go to Africa to visit some of the schools we are partnering with as well as areas where we want to begin a school. While in the process of making these plans, a group in Haiti, The 410 Bridge, contacted us and shared about the work they are doing for the deaf (http://www.cbdeafministry.org/Graphics/Newsletter/Project-Brief-Deaf-Leveque.pdf). The 410 Bridge has requested that Ray and I to join them on their next trip so we can help with the project. Their next trip is March 9-15 (just around the corner). Saying yes to this group would mean moving our trip to Africa to May or June of this year.

Ray and I have been praying about this and feel this is God's will for us. We are asking you to please pray with us for confirmation of this decision. The 410 Bridge will be seeking a grant to help raise funds for us to go to Haiti and we will also be seeking financial support for going to both Haiti and Africa.

The earthquake that struck Haiti in January of 2010 left nearly 1.5 million people homeless. Among those left without a home was a group of deaf individuals and their families. Somehow in the midst of the chaos following the earthquake over 400 deaf, and family members of the deaf, settled together on a small temporary piece of land in the heart of Port-au-Prince. These deaf individuals and their families lived in tents and struggled to find enough food and water to simply survive. As they began to settle into their temporary homes, they formed relationships, leaders emerged, and a community was created. In 2011 the Red Cross replaced their tents with temporary homes and The 410 Bridge began to work with the leaders to create a permanent community.

These individuals desire to work hard, further their education, have a place to worship, and become productive members of society. In addition to housing, the community members will have access to safe drinking water, a quality school, and a local church.

Ray and I will be working with the deaf leaders to help them with education for the deaf children, literacy workshops for deaf adults, sign language for hearing family members and bible study lessons and tools for the mature deaf Christian leaders. We feel this is the beginning of something big that God is doing in Haiti and we are humbled to be allowed to be a part of it.
We need your support, please pray for us as we prepare and raise funds for this trip.

Invisible and Unseen...for How Much Longer?
Thoughts on Deaf Ministry—or Rather, on the Unfortunate Lack Thereof
by Ruth Anna Spooner

Picture this: You go to a new church for the first time. Maybe you are a believer; maybe you are not. Either way, the place feels unfamiliar. Where’s the bathroom...the nursery...the free coffee? Once you get past the greeters at the front door and find your way into the sanctuary, the problem of where to sit presents itself.
